The screen capture below shows Quantellia's WorldModeler(tm) software as a team of decision makers explores how various choices about infectious disease policy in various countries in Africa affect the infection rate. The basic idea: there is a "cycle of disease", where fewer healthy citizens and more sick people mean a lower overall contribution to the economy, which lowers the budget available for health care, which means that more people become ill. Economics and health care are linked: if this vicious cycle can be reversed into a "virtuous cycle", where the more healthy people there are, the higher the GDP, and the greater the amount of money for drugs, then a disease can be brought under control.
